Love these books. Gave 3 stars because the photo is deceiving. I thought they were going to be larger and square, but they are regular "Beatrix Potter" size - about 3 inches by 4 inches.
Bought this for our son who was on a Peter RAbbit kick and wanted to have other stories to go with it. The set is beautiful in the box and well-bound. Unfortunately the story of the kittens is not very encouraging with a mom cat who makes some not very smart choices and then blames and lies about her kitty kids when they ruin their new clothes. Not the best role model story for the kids. Peter Rabbit is still the best. The other 2 books contain some humor for adults and a dreamy storytelling of life adventures on the farm which is fun (although how to explain to the little kids what happened to the "polite bushy-tailed gentleman"!!). There's a sense of Beatrix Potter talking to you as the reader and taking you through that world.
This is a wonderful starter set that we wanted to give our almost 2 year old grandchild for her birthday so she can begin a nice collection. The books are high quality and snuggled into a tough keeper as well. Our order was also prompt and I have been a long time customer and have never had any problems with my orders or products not once.
I had just finished the biography of Beatrix Potter "Over the Hills and Far Away" by Matthew Dennison and wanted to read a couple of her stories. This set was just perfect with her illustrations completing the tales.. A good conclusion to my Beatrix Potter reunion.
Bought as a baby shower gift. My friend liked it. Good to read to baby and as baby grows he/she will be able to hold the book since they're just the right size. Not too big not too small.
This is a birthday gift for a one year old little boy. I had Peter Rabbit books when I was a little girl in England 88 years ago and get pleasure starting our grandchildren and little friends out reading or being read to Peter Rabbit books.
I'm disappointed with the minuscule size of these books. I've considered other books, including Winnie the Pooh, and nowhere is there any reference to the dimensions. Why is that? I would have looked further for a little larger version had I been warned. The other problem is the phrase "naturally better". I have no idea what that means. Is this some modern editor's version of the stories? I have not unwrapped the books, so I am considering returning them. I could live with the size of the books, but not a "cleaned up" version of Beatrix Potter's own words.
Beautifully bound and illustrated. I bought a set to inspect and then, so pleased, I ordered a set for each of my sets of grandchildren. Beatrix Potter should be in every child's library.
