This theory book was recommended by my Piano Teacher. I did lessons briefly as a child but have recently restarted lessons as an adult. This book works perfectly with the lesson book to reinforce concepts and provide more detail about the techniques and basics being taught.
At 70+ I started taking piano lessons and ordered Levels One, Two and Three of the Piano Theory books. I also ordered Levels One, Two and Three of the Adult All In One Course books. I especially like the theory portions of the books because I leave the books in my car so that they are always available. While I am waiting to pick up the grandchildren from school I do the theory exercises. The Theory books repeat a lot of what's in the Adult All In One Course Books. However the Theory books are left in my car and a write all my notes in them. The books have really helped me to advance in my lessons at a faster pace.
This book is intended as a teaching tool for adults beginning on the piano; that is my situation. I am pleased with my progress, and I am nearly done with this volume. It sets out a course of study and practice clearly and steadily, from the point of view of the reader/beginner (I can't say how it relates as to how specific skills are emphasized, etc). I would recommend this book. For example, I have experienced steady improvement in reading of music; grasping the rules of duration of notes and rests, and the like. There are no surprises nor confusing instructions.
I like this series although it moves fast. Good for an adult who is looking to relearn piano that they haven't played in years. For beginning pianists, it does move rather rapidly but if you are a fast learner it works well.
