Each book in this series got better and better. Is Brenner the result of a government experiment or something else? Mix in a vampire, a sociopath, Watchers and a string of evil humans. Did I mention a sidekick who believes in government conspiracies? Each book is full of non-stop action.
Readers of the anti hero genres will enjoy this series.Brenner is a basically good person, he can't stand it if the bad guys win in any way.Brenner makes sure that the bad guys lose big time, in every scenario, while he rescues the girl, the innocent and the weak.
I truly appreciate when an author finishes a story. Too many times they hook me, then don't complete the job, leaving me drying in the sun! Good characters, good story. As I said, it finishes, but is available for follow ons, which I would read in a heartbeat.
I have read a lot of "were" animal/vampire books/series and I have to say that Project Bloodborn is by far the best I have had the pleasure of reading.I am eagerly waiting to see what comes next for Brenner and Shadow (what's her backstory...she is more than she seems).
Wish this was way longer..tell me there is going to be more of Brenner and Griff. Please please please thanks
What could have been an interesting series fails quickly on many counts, some picky, too many major.One of the major failings is the author introduces some very interesting villains, then discards them without making any real use of the character.One example is an Indian shape-shifter who transforms into a huge cougar. Instead of making a good addition to the story the author very quickly kills him off with no attempt at all to mine more from the character.He's simply introduced, has a brief build up as a huge danger, then gets discarded in rush.The author follows this standard time after time after time by giving a description of villains most writers would make better use of, but instead just throws them away senselessly.The author does the same with characters that have unique powers that would be interestingly explored, but most of these are again, just described, then dropped without any real impact on the story.In both cases you wonder why the author even bothered to introduce them in the first place.Another major problem is the author never alters his heroes actions. It just one long smash and slash encounter where the villains stand no chance and have no more impact then a discarded paper target on a shooting range.In minor problems the author fails the first task of an author..... knowing what you're writing about.A good author does at least some research to know key information about what he attempts to make use of.This is common among authors who know nothing at all about firearms, explosives, silencers, or other equipment but make use of them in the story complete with silly mistakes a little research would have eliminated.We've all read stories by authors who have their heroes "flicking off the safety" of a revolver, or making simply ridiculous shots that no firearm is capable of.As example, he has a team of Navy SEAL's of which the SEAL commander is.... A gunnery Sargent.Gunnys are US Marines, not Navy.Another minor complaint is the author does nonsensical things like arm a Neo-Nazi guard with an AR-15 rifle, but equips it with a 10 round magazine, when the most widely common magazines are 30 round magazines.This is a minor mistake but it's symptomatic of careless research, or lack of.Another is a question... in all this shooting and violence all over the country, all over public roads where are the State Police, local police, and honest Sheriff's?This is ignoring that American law enforcement do see things like huge mass gun battles on public roads and respond to them, but is a common "feature" of many books, movies, and TV.True you can avoid them on the road, but it's hard to accept that the local Sheriff and State police would not know of or allow a Neo-Nazi heavily armed fort to be built and manned by many men armed with illegal weapons.Local law enforcement is curious. They tend to drive the back roads and see little things like a fort with guard towers.So do ordinary citizens like the farmer next door, the utility worker inspecting lines, the local game warden, and hunter.s and hikers.They tend to see something and say something. And that something gets a look from the authorities. Even if the locals are corrupt, the State authorities are not.It's beyond reasonable to accept that a corrupt Army Colonel could murder a helicopter full of Navy SEAL's and not only would no one notice, no one at SOCCOM would fail to investigate.Having an ambush on a public road would have traffic backed up for miles, the State Police and Sheriff would be there, and shooting down a helo would certainly be noticed by someone.You can push the public and media back from something you don't want them to see, but not to the point where reporters with long distance lenses and ordinary citizens don't see at least some of it.Also, some Army Colonel would not be able to stop SOCCOM from investigating a helo crash to find the cause, and even if the Colonel had higher backing that still would not stop an investigation. Spec-Ops looks out for themselves.In the same way, you're not going to be able to stroll into a town and murder dozens of residents to cover up your rogue secret soldiers who just robbed a bank and shot up the town.People are going to notice missing residents, relatives, and friends. Don't get an answer from some minor Army Colonel? Call your congressman, they get answers and obscure Army officers get looked at hard.You also have to wonder in what world a vampire government agent can walk into a Sheriff's office and murder a number of people and that would NOT be headline news on all channels, and the subject of a huge manhunt by every cop in America.True, these are sort of picky, but it's all a sign of a carelessly written potboiler best suited to teenage boys who like uncomplicated blood and gut stories about an unstoppable and unlikely hero.Science Fiction and Fantasy is full of heroes that have unlikely powers and abilities, but not so sloppily done.This one just doesn't make the grade, or pass the laugh and smell tests.
I really loved the series. Great characters and well researched plots. I would like to see a bit more romance and sex. Hey it’s a girl thing. Keep up the good work.
Awesome. Kept you hooked. I kept going back for more. Even though you got the drift of what's happening there was enough suspense that, you didn't give up and I liked how it ended. Although I wonder about shadow, I feel there might be a story there. Good series.
