If you have been through any form of childhood trauma or any other stressor that distracted you from God, Dawn Eden’s Remembering God’s Mercy is a must read. I discovered her quite by accident. I was wanting an answer to the question, “Why does God allow bad things to happen to children?” Many of my patients have asked, “If there is a God, why did he allow this to happen to me?” In my search for a reasonable answer to this question, Ms. Eden introduces us to religious personalities that teach us about personal responsibility and a God-centered life. She illustrates, by her example, and by the example of others, that the past does not have to define our future. She does a masterful job of bringing her childhood experiences to life in a way that we can all understand. Her courage to disclose her childhood circumstances is a model for all of us who have been sexually abused as children. Our tendency is to grow up with fluid boundaries and to continue to allow evil influences to dictate poor decisions. She shows us how to self-disclose without saying too much, she shows us how to maintain good personal boundaries, while at the same time exemplifying how a boundary-less relationship with God can guide us towards true happiness. She teaches us about trust: trust in ourselves, trust in God, and trust in the interface between the two. Ms. Eden gives us several pathways to being truly free. Her references are excellent and in and of themselves lead to new avenues of study and further healing. Highly recommended for all of us seeking spiritual solutions to healing from a traumatic past, and for professionals who have been given the privilege of helping us heal.Reggie Matias, Ph.D.Clinical Psychologist

Still reading this. Taking it very slowly. Dawn Eden is my dear friend who I have YET to Meet in Person, but in my heart, we are Sisters. She has been helping me GO DEEPER THAN FORGIVENESS TO A MERCY I HAVE NOT YET KNOWN. This book's timing is perfect for me. Our Father was already leading me to this place in Memory, This Unknown Place, His Remembrance is not an old, dusty thing of the past, He is Ever Present Beyond Time Ancient of Days Eternal Ever New He is Emmanuel-God WITH Us!and in His Unspeakable Love, My Life Matters To Him ....He is At Work. All is Well, All will be Well...in Him.I will update this when I have finished reading it for the first time. Her other book, My Peace I Give You, I have read several times.

Thank you, Dawn, for bringing so much healing from sharing your story, especially with prudence and modesty, yet with refreshing candor, in how you tell your story. Reading this book was many times like reading my own interior life and prayer experiences of healing over the years, and seeing how God worked in your life as well has been such a gift and consolation from God. The gift of our Sacramental life and prayer in the Catholic Church has been indispensable in healing from trauma, and Dawn has written beautifully of the graces God greatly desires to pour into our hearts. Reading this book brought much peace, and I highly recommend it.

I first came across Dawn Eden on Eternal Word Television Network's program, Life on the Rock. As fate or faith would have it, an article appeared about her just a few days later in my hometown's weekly, The Hudson Reporter; so, I decided to buy her first book, the thrill of the chaste. I loved it; it is her most autobiographical of her three books. Not long afterward I bought My Peace I Give You, which is a compilation of reflections on the lives of several popular and less known saints; it, too, is a great read. When one gets to Dawn's third book, remembering God's Mercy, and leafs through it, as I did in one day (I couldn't put it down), one finds a refreshing voice echoing eternal truths. I love how Dawn seamlessly integrates her observations and graces with those of Augustine, Aquinas, Ignatius Loyola, John Henry Newman, Peter Faber, Pope Francis and others to offer an explanation, and show the importance, of memory in developing an identity, particularly in God; it is a remarkable read. I felt as if I were being introduced to members of her spiritual family, and through her selection of "family", it modeled and affirmed the significance of remembrance. From a spiritual perspective the book does an excellent job of communicating the importance of memory for faith and identity. From a practical perspective, if we are to hold Dawn to her intention of making the message accessible to a wider audience (p.xii), a bit more could have been explored regarding biological conditions that impede memory. Amnesia is mentioned on pages 102-103 in just one paragraph, nothing about dementia or Alzheimer's. How do these "identity crises" reconcile with faith? How do they impact individuals, families and communities? Maybe a topic for a future book? Lastly, I appreciate how Dawn reminds us that some trauma emanates from past experiences and that we must "find grace [peace] and healing through bringing the embodied effects of past trauma into union with Jesus' passion," which she reminds us requires constant effort. Overall, her books are three great testimonies to faith and resources for healing.

Very well written and helpful in my growth to heal from past wounds! Thank you Dawn!

Great book!

Good read. "Remembering God's Mercy"...another way to connect with God's great gift to us.

analysis of conversion, forgiveness and the mercy of God. Dawn's background as a music critic leads her to some unexpectedly delightful anecdotes that in retrospect prepared her and heralded her conversion and Love of God.
